DAKAR, Senegal, October 13, 2025 — The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), and the Government of Senegal have announced the second joint meeting of the ECOFEST Regional Organising Committee, set to take place in Dakar from October 14–17, 2025. This meeting aims to coordinate final preparations for the much-anticipated ECOFEST Dakar 2025, a grand cultural festival in Dakar celebrating West African unity and creativity.

Celebrating West African Culture Through Music and Art

Scheduled from November 30 to December 7, 2025, ECOFEST Dakar 2025 promises a week of vibrant cultural performances in Senegal, featuring artists, musicians, and cultural figures from across the region. The festival’s theme, “Political change and crises in West Africa: what can culture do?”, will explore how art and culture can promote peace, resilience, and transformation during times of regional change.

The event will highlight the significance of traditional music in Senegal, local crafts, and cross-cultural exchange. It will also foster partnerships between policymakers, entrepreneurs, and creatives, making it more than a celebration — it’s a dialogue for regional cooperation and peacebuilding.

Dakar to Host Iconic Venues and Performances

The opening ceremony will take place at the Dakar Arena, while the closing ceremony will light up the Grand Théâtre Doudou Ndiaye Coumba Rose, both known for their strong ties to Senegalese artistry. Throughout the week, audiences will enjoy traditional music in Senegal, live performances, exhibitions, seminars, trade fairs, and film screenings — all highlighting the country’s rich cultural diversity.

Strengthening Regional Collaboration

The joint committee meeting will focus on refining logistics, communications, and partnerships to ensure a successful festival. Organizers aim to enhance synergy between national and regional stakeholders while validating technical and artistic details. The festival is expected to attract thousands of participants and visitors, boosting tourism and cultural exchange in Senegal.
