Emirates Flight Promotions Celebrate 25 Years Connecting Uganda to Dubai

Emirates Marks 25 Years of Connecting Uganda to Dubai with Enhanced Inflight Amenities

Emirates (www.Emirates.com), the world’s largest international airline, proudly celebrates 25 years of operations between Uganda and Dubai. Since its inaugural flight in 2000, Emirates has transported 2.8 million passengers on 15,900 flights, seamlessly linking Uganda to its extensive global network via Dubai.

Growth of Emirates Uganda to Dubai Route and Flight Experience

Over the years, Emirates has strategically expanded its Uganda to Dubai service to meet growing demand. Initially operating thrice weekly with connections through Nairobi and Addis Ababa, Emirates launched a direct service in 2007. By 2015, the airline upgraded to the Boeing 777-200LR, increasing seat capacity by 12%. Currently, Emirates operates the three-class Boeing 777-300ER on this route and remains the only international airline offering a First Class cabin flying in and out of Uganda.

To celebrate this milestone, Emirates hosted a special one-off flight showcasing the refurbished Boeing 777 aircraft and its cutting-edge inflight amenities. Guests were given a static tour highlighting the next-generation cabin designs, including the newly introduced Premium Economy class, available in Uganda for the first time.

Boosting Tourism and Community Development in Uganda

Emirates has partnered with the Uganda Tourism Board over the past two years to promote the country’s vibrant tourism attractions—ranging from spectacular wildlife safaris to thrilling adventure sports and cultural experiences. Since January 2025, passenger traffic on the Dubai-Entebbe route has surged by 16%, with key travelers coming from the US, China, India, the UK, Thailand, and the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Beyond commercial growth, Emirates has invested in Ugandan communities. Their ‘Dubai 7s for Good’ CSR program raised a record 587 million Ugandan Shillings (UGX) in September 2024 to develop sports facilities and infrastructure at North Road Primary School, a recognized hub for rugby, football, and netball excellence. The airline has funded a rugby pitch with permanent bleachers, solar-powered water stations, and sports equipment for students.

Enhancing Passenger Experience with Dubai Airport Services

Emirates continually elevates passenger comfort by integrating world-class Dubai airport services and inflight amenities. The latest Boeing 777 retrofit is part of Emirates’ ambitious $5 billion upgrade program, which will modernize 219 A380s and Boeing 777s by 2026. To date, 72 aircraft have received these enhancements, ensuring passengers traveling between Uganda and Dubai enjoy the highest standards in air travel, from lie-flat seats in First and Business Class to fine dining options in Premium Economy and thoughtful amenities for children in Economy.

Mohamed Taher, Emirates’ Country Manager for Uganda, shared: “Uganda is a key market and one of our most cherished African destinations. Our 25-year journey reflects strong partnerships and a commitment to delivering best-in-class service. As Uganda’s aviation and tourism sectors grow, Emirates is proud to connect international travelers with this beautiful country while offering Ugandan passengers unparalleled access to the world.”
