RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan men’s cricket team will proudly wear a pink kit cricket tournament uniform during the first T20I against South Africa on October 28 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, marking the launch of the Pink Ribbon Pakistan Campaign led by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The entire event is part of the PCB breast cancer awareness initiative under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

PCB’s Pink Initiative to Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

According to the PCB, the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will “turn pink” as Pakistan takes on South Africa in the opening match of the three-match T20I series. The collaboration with Pink Ribbon Pakistan aims to spread awareness about breast cancer and promote early detection through public engagement.

As part of this pink ribbon Pakistan campaign, both teams, match officials, commentators, and coaches will wear pink ribbons during the match. Special pink-branded stumps and awareness messages will also feature prominently throughout the live broadcast.

Free Screenings and Support for the Cause

In partnership with the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Trust Hospital in Lahore, visitors will have access to free clinical examinations and screenings on the same day, highlighting the PCB’s strong commitment to public health.

PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed Syed stated that the PCB breast cancer awareness drive demonstrates cricket’s power to bring positive social change.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board takes immense pride in using the power and reach of cricket to create awareness about causes that affect our society,” he said.
“Through the Pink Ribbon Pakistan Campaign, we aim to emphasize early detection and regular screening for breast cancer, which can save countless lives.”

Pink Ribbon CEO Praises PCB’s Efforts

Pink Ribbon CEO Umar Aftab praised the PCB’s commitment, describing the collaboration as a meaningful step toward a healthier and more informed nation.

“We are grateful to the Pakistan Cricket Board for supporting Pink Ribbon Pakistan through this special cricket event. Cricket unites our nation, and today, it’s uniting us for a life-saving cause.”

The pink kit cricket tournament initiative not only celebrates cricket but also symbolizes solidarity in the fight against breast cancer. Fans attending the match or watching live will be part of a larger social mission — using sport to inspire awareness and change.
