AFC Boosts Sustainable Fashion Africa Growth with Lagos Fashion Week 2025

Africa Finance Corporation (AFC)  a leading infrastructure solutions provider, has announced a strategic partnership with Lagos Fashion Week 2025 to drive sustainable fashion Africa growth through innovation, local manufacturing, and eco-friendly design practices.

The collaboration underscores AFC’s commitment to empowering Africa’s creative industries and youth as vital drivers of inclusive economic growth. The continent’s apparel and textile exports are projected to reach $15 billion by 2030, signaling a new era for green fashion practices Africa.

Supporting Creative and Sustainable Growth

“Africa’s creative industries represent both cultural pride and economic opportunity,” said Samaila Zubairu, President & CEO of AFC. “Through this partnership, AFC is investing in infrastructure that strengthens creative arts development Africa, allowing designers and manufacturers to compete globally.”

AFC’s investment supports a full fashion value chain—from local textile production to sustainable retail—encouraging value addition within Africa’s borders.

Building Infrastructure for Fashion and Manufacturing

Through ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms (ARISE IIP), AFC is facilitating Africa’s transformation from exporting raw materials to producing finished goods. The Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ) in Benin Republic, powered by renewable energy, is processing African cotton into high-end garments for global retailers. The initiative is a model for green fashion practices Africa, creating jobs and promoting circular production.

Omoyemi Akerele, Founder of Lagos Fashion Week, said, “We’re excited to partner with AFC. Their focus on sustainable infrastructure aligns with our mission to strengthen Africa’s fashion ecosystem and promote responsible production.”

Lagos Fashion Week 2025: Leading the Change

Now celebrating its 15th edition, Lagos Fashion Week continues to spotlight sustainability, circular fashion, and regional value chains—key areas where AFC’s projects are making tangible impact. AFC’s ongoing investments in creative arts development Africa are helping reshape global perceptions of African creativity.

This partnership builds on AFC’s creative collaborations across the continent, including its +234Art Fair with Ecobank, collectively contributing over US$50 billion to GDP and creating more than 7 million jobs across 36 African nations.
