AS FAR Secures Historic Second Title in African Champions League Women’s Edition

AS FAR has clinched the coveted African Champions League Women’s Edition title for the second time, solidifying their status as a powerhouse in African soccer club tournaments. The Moroccan giants secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over tournament debutants ASEC Mimosas in a thrilling final that showcased the rising quality of women’s football competition on the continent.

⚽ Penalty Drama Defines the Final Showdown

The match, a highlight of recent African Champions League Women’s Edition history, was ultimately decided by two penalty kicks.

AS FAR took the lead early when Hanane Ait El Haj confidently converted a penalty in the 13th minute. The spot-kick was awarded after Safa Banouk was fouled inside the box by Aboa Yapo.CAF Online – Women’s Champions League News

ASEC Mimosas, the Ivorian club, demonstrated resilience and drew level 10 minutes into the second half. However, AS FAR earned their second penalty late in the game after Noura Diarra committed a rash challenge on Sofia Bouftini. AS FAR’s journey as continental champions is not over. They will now face China’s Wuhan Jiangda on December 14 for a spot in next year’s inaugural Fifa Women’s Champions Cup.
