Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the sidelines of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, reaffirming the Italy Egypt partnership and both nations’ commitment to advancing the Middle East peace process. The meeting also discussed regional stability, economic cooperation, and shared diplomatic goals.

Strengthening the Italy Egypt Partnership

President El-Sisi and Prime Minister Meloni highlighted the continued progress in the international relations partnership between Egypt and Italy. The two leaders discussed expanding cooperation in energy, agriculture, construction, tourism, and trade — emphasizing how joint development projects could enhance economic stability across the Mediterranean.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty and Major General Hassan Rashad, Director of the General Intelligence Service, also attended the meeting. El-Sisi underscored Egypt’s determination to boost collaboration in both the political and commercial arenas while fostering deeper ties between private sectors in both countries.

Cooperation on the Middle East Peace Process

Prime Minister Meloni praised Egypt’s crucial role in mediating peace and helping facilitate the ceasefire in Gaza, calling Cairo’s leadership “essential” in maintaining stability in the region. President El-Sisi emphasized that the ceasefire represents the culmination of two years of persistent Egyptian diplomacy—conducted alongside Qatar and the United States—to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

He reiterated the need to support the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, expand humanitarian aid, release hostages, and pave the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in line with international resolutions.

A Growing International Relations Partnership

The Italy Egypt partnership continues to serve as a model for regional collaboration. Ambassador Mohammed El-Shennawy, the presidential spokesman, stated that President El-Sisi praised the growing momentum of bilateral relations and encouraged stronger engagement between the two nations’ business communities.

Prime Minister Meloni reaffirmed Italy’s support for Egypt within the framework of the European Union and expressed optimism about the upcoming Egyptian-European summit in Brussels on October 22, 2025, which aims to deepen cooperation on trade, migration, and peace initiatives.
