Regional Stability in Africa Strengthened by Sudan-Eritrea Peace Process

A senior Sudanese delegation, led by Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris, has returned home following a successful two-day working visit to Eritrea. The visit underscored both nations’ shared commitment to regional stability in Africa and continued cooperation in fostering peace and development.

Strengthening Peace and Political Dialogue

During his discussions, Dr. Kamil highlighted Sudan’s appreciation for Eritrea’s consistent support of Sudanese-led solutions to internal conflicts. He emphasized that the peace process should remain under Sudan’s ownership — supported modestly by neighboring nations — to avoid interference from external actors.

Deepening Diplomatic and Cultural Ties

In his remarks at Asmara International Airport, Dr. Kamil stated that previous agreements covering political, social, cultural, and economic cooperation will be revitalized in the coming months. These initiatives aim to enhance political dialogue diplomatic ties and strengthen long-standing historical relations between the two countries.

Advancing Regional Cooperation

The Sudanese Prime Minister reiterated that this renewed engagement aligns with both nations’ vision for sustainable development and peace process negotiation outcomes. By maintaining open communication channels, Sudan and Eritrea hope to become a model for other African states seeking stability through dialogue and mutual respect.

The delegation, which included Foreign Minister Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem and Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism Mr. Khalid Ali Aleisir, was officially seen off by Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Ambassador Isa Ahmed Isa.
