Qatar Strengthens Sahel Security Partnership Through Cross-Border Collaboration Talks

HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, held a series of international relations talks on Wednesday with top diplomats from several African nations, emphasizing a shared commitment to regional peace and stability.

Strengthening Cross-Border Collaboration

During the meetings, HE Dr. Al Khulaifi met with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs from Burkina Faso, Liberia, Niger, and The Gambia, as well as Mali’s Minister of Health and Social Development and the African Union’s Special Representative for Mali and the Sahel. The discussions were held on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha.

The diplomatic meetings focused on advancing cross-border collaboration and reinforcing Qatar’s partnerships with African nations. Delegates explored joint efforts to promote peace, tackle humanitarian challenges, and encourage economic growth across the Sahel region.

Advancing the Sahel Security Partnership

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to a stronger Sahel security partnership, underlining the need for coordinated regional and global strategies to address ongoing security and developmental challenges. The talks also emphasized the importance of cooperative diplomacy in achieving long-term prosperity for the people of the region.

HE Dr. Al Khulaifi praised the ongoing cooperation between Qatar and African countries, stressing the importance of collective initiatives to support stability and sustainable growth.
