President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Mr. Mo Dingge, Chairman of the China National Chemical Engineering Corporation (CNCEC), to discuss expanding soda ash production in Egypt through enhanced cooperation with Chinese partners. The meeting, held in Cairo, was also attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Petroleum Minister Eng. Karim Badawi, CNCEC Vice Chairman Mr. Wu Xiangong, and TCC Company Chairman.

President El-Sisi praised the strong and long-standing relations between Egypt and China, emphasizing that both nations are committed to strengthening economic and industrial cooperation. He assured that the Egyptian government will provide all necessary support to facilitate the Egypt China joint production efforts for soda ash, a project of major strategic value for the country.

Strengthening Egyptian-Chinese Industrial Ties

According to Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s dedication to deepening partnerships with China, particularly in key industrial and energy sectors. The soda ash production in Egypt project will help boost local manufacturing, reduce imports, and promote self-sufficiency in several industries such as glass, detergents, and chemicals.

The President highlighted that the project reflects Egypt’s broader vision to attract Chinese investment in Egypt and encourage technology transfer that supports sustainable industrial growth. He also noted that the country offers a favorable investment environment, providing incentives for both local and foreign investors to expand production and export capacity.

Expanding Chinese Investment in Egypt

During the meeting, CNCEC Chairman Mo Dingge shared the company’s extensive experience in petrochemical projects and expressed enthusiasm for increasing Chinese investment in Egypt. He stated that CNCEC aims to collaborate closely with the Egyptian government to accelerate the project’s implementation and ensure it meets top international standards.

President El-Sisi welcomed this commitment and underscored that Egypt China joint production efforts in key sectors like petrochemicals would not only enhance Egypt’s industrial base but also strengthen bilateral ties. These efforts align with Egypt’s strategy to position itself as a regional hub for manufacturing and sustainable production.

A Milestone for Egypt’s Industrial Self-Reliance

The soda ash production in Egypt project, spearheaded by CNCEC and TCC, is seen as a milestone in Egypt’s journey toward industrial independence. It will reduce dependence on imports, create local jobs, and contribute to economic stability. Such partnerships also highlight China’s growing confidence in the Egyptian market and its potential as a key investment destination in Africa.
