Uganda has officially announced its readiness to host the 15th EAC Parliamentary Sports Event, a major fixture in East African Community sports that promotes unity, teamwork, and integration across the region. Preparations for the 2025 edition are complete, with venues, logistics, and medical arrangements finalised ahead of the December kickoff.

Uganda Declares Readiness to Host EAC Parliamentary Games

Hon. Asuman Basalirwa, Member of Parliament for Bugiri Municipality and Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, confirmed that all venues have been inspected and approved. “We are ready to host East Africa. Uganda is prepared both in facilities and spirit, and we look forward to welcoming our brothers and sisters from across the region,” he said during a press briefing on November 3, 2025.

Key hospitals such as Kampala Hospital, Nakasero, Aga Khan, IHK, Mulago, and Nsambya have partnered with the committee to ensure full medical support throughout the event — a key example of well-coordinated Uganda parliamentary activities driving regional collaboration.

Venues and Dates for the 2025 EAC Parliamentary Sports Event

The games will run from December 5–17, 2025, across Kampala at premier sporting venues including Philip Omondi Stadium (Lugogo), Hams Stadium, Wankulukuku Stadium, Kyambogo University, Makerere University, and Namboole Stadium. Golf competitions will be held at Kampala Golf Club and Serena Golf Resort, Kigo.

Uganda’s Parliament, the defending champion, has expressed determination to retain its title. Basalirwa noted, “We cannot afford to lose on home soil. Even with a tight national electoral schedule, we are training hard to remain on top.”

Regional Participation and Unity Through Sports

Delegations from Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) have confirmed full participation under the theme “One Region, One Community: Advancing Integration through Parliaments and Sports.”

Kenya’s representative, Hon. Vincent Kawaya, stated, “We will take as many trophies as possible, but what matters most is the unity these games foster.” He also praised Uganda’s hosting efforts, noting the country’s efficient planning and hospitality.

The EALA Secretariat has encouraged East Africans to attend the games in large numbers, emphasizing that the East African Community sports initiative deepens regional integration and solidarity.

Promoting Regional Tourism and Cultural Exchange

Beyond sports, the 2025 EAC Parliamentary Sports Event is expected to boost local tourism and cultural exchange, showcasing Uganda’s hospitality and sporting excellence.
