South Africa vs Pakistan Women: Kapp Shines as Proteas Dominate World Cup Clash

South Africa continued their unbeaten streak at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, crushing Pakistan by 150 runs (DLS method) to climb atop the standings. This win marked their fifth consecutive victory, thanks to Marizanne Kapp’s all-round performance, which guided the Proteas to a record-breaking triumph.

Kapp Leads South Africa’s Batting Charge

Opting to bat first after Pakistan won the toss, South Africa produced their highest-ever World Cup total, posting 312/9 in 40 overs. Captain Laura Wolvaardt (90) anchored the innings while Marizanne Kapp’s 68 not out and Sune Luus’ 61 kept the momentum alive. Nadine de Klerk’s late flourish ensured a daunting total for Pakistan. The target was later revised to 306 under DLS rules.

Pakistan Struggle Against Proteas Bowling

In the South Africa vs Pakistan women encounter, Pakistan faltered early as Ayabonga Khaka struck in her first over. Kapp then delivered a fiery spell, taking three wickets and dismantling Pakistan’s top order. Nondumiso Shangase (2/19) and Khaka (1/14) supported her perfectly as the opponents collapsed to 83/7.

A Dominant All-Round Display

Sidra Nawaz (22*) was the only batter to show resistance, as South Africa’s disciplined attack sealed a 150-run DLS victory. Marizanne Kapp’s all-round performance earned her the Player of the Match award, further cementing her reputation as one of the most complete cricketers in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

What’s Next for the Proteas?

With this commanding win, South Africa sit atop the World Cup standings with 10 points from six matches. They now prepare for a blockbuster clash against defending champions Australia on October 25, while Pakistan face Sri Lanka the day before.
