He was initially shown a red card, but the decision was later overturned after video review and disciplinary assessment confirmed no conclusive evidence to justify the send-off.

Lengthy Ban and Missed Matches
While the disciplinary panel determined that Wessels’ actions warranted a red-card threshold, his initial 12-week suspension was reduced to nine weeks due to good conduct and a clean disciplinary record. The ban rules him out of the Springboks’ autumn internationals against Japan, France, Italy, and Ireland, as well as Bulls’ URC and Champions Cup fixtures.
Wessels, who has earned 10 caps for South Africa, may still appeal the verdict, but as of now, the decision stands.

Josh Murphy’s red card was overturned, making him eligible to play for Connacht in their upcoming derby against Munster.
