Kenya is taking major strides in improving healthcare access through innovation and scientific collaboration. The Kenya Institute of Primate Research (KIPRE) hosted its 20th Scientific Conference under the theme “Transforming Health through Innovative Research,” bringing together experts from across Africa to explore advancements in biomedical research in Kenya and sustainable healthcare solutions.

The Ministry of Health reaffirmed its dedication to expanding health insurance benefits, improving disease prevention, and boosting emergency preparedness. Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, speaking on behalf of the Cabinet Secretary for Health, emphasized the role of collaboration and evidence-based innovation in driving Kenya’s healthcare transformation.

She noted that the changing global health landscape — from infectious diseases to non-communicable conditions — requires integrating science, technology, and policy for effective healthcare delivery. “Collaboration is key. Together, we can harness our collective expertise to improve health outcomes for all,” Muthoni said.

Participants were encouraged to build partnerships that turn biomedical research in Kenya into practical health innovations, enhancing Kenya healthcare access and supporting Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

The conference aims to generate actionable insights, reinforcing Kenya’s leadership in health research and biotechnology development. Citizens are also encouraged to explore wellness opportunities, including travel-based wellness programs via Afrikeye Travel.
