Egypt-Armenia Joint Committee 2025: Strengthening Strategic Ties

The Egypt-Armenia Joint Committee 2025 began with the participation of high-level officials from both countries, co-chaired by H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation of Egypt, and Mr. Gevorg Papoyan, Armenian Minister of Economy. The session marked a major step in advancing Egypt-Armenia economic cooperation.

H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat highlighted that the committee provides a critical platform for translating political agreements into actionable initiatives. She emphasized that the historic visit of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Yerevan in January 2023 paved the way for stronger bilateral ties, opening opportunities in trade, investment, and scientific collaboration.

Key Sectors for Egypt-Armenia Economic Cooperation

The Egypt-Armenia Joint Committee 2025 discussed a wide range of sectors to enhance mutual economic benefits. Focus areas included:

  • Agriculture and Food Security: Joint initiatives in food industries and agricultural technology to strengthen trade.
  • Advanced Technology and AI: Collaboration in ICT, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation projects.
  • Youth, Sports, and Capacity Building: Programs for youth training, skill development, and sports exchanges, similar to the continental spirit of AFCON 2025.
  • Industry and Manufacturing: Opportunities in construction materials, machinery, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and light manufacturing.
  • Tourism and Cultural Exchange: Initiatives to promote tourism, cultural digitization, and people-to-people ties.

H.E. Al-Mashat pointed out that Armenia’s industrial capacity and skilled workforce complement Egypt’s strategic location and economic zones, including the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), creating promising avenues for investment and trade expansion.

Ministers Emphasize Importance of Bilateral Cooperation

Both ministers stressed that the Egypt-Armenia Joint Committee 2025 plays a central role in coordinating joint initiatives. H.E. Al-Mashat explained that the committee helps monitor progress, set sectoral priorities, and ensure tangible results for both nations.

Armenian Minister Papoyan echoed the importance of Egypt-Armenia economic cooperation, noting the strong historical and cultural ties that provide a solid foundation for partnership. Both sides agreed to engage the private sector more actively to diversify trade, encourage new joint ventures, and integrate regional and global value chains. These strategic alliances are as crucial as the peace agreements we monitor in the region.

Protocol Signed to Boost Economic and Scientific Partnerships

At the conclusion of the session, the 6th session protocol of the Egypt-Armenia Joint Committee 2025 was signed. The protocol outlines key initiatives, including:

  1. Expanding bilateral trade and diversifying investment flows.
  2. Promoting SME partnerships, renewable energy projects, and industrial development.
  3. Supporting youth, cultural exchange, and higher education programs.
  4. Organizing joint exhibitions and facilitating knowledge transfer.

This protocol strengthens the framework for sustainable and long-term Egypt-Armenia economic cooperation, ensuring measurable outcomes that benefit both countries.

Participants and Institutional Support

From the Armenian side, participants included Mr. Armen Sarkissian, Ambassador to Egypt, and officials from the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, Health, and Education.

From the Egyptian side, representatives attended from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Investment and International Trade, Agriculture, and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI).

Active engagement from both sides ensures the Egypt-Armenia Joint Committee 2025 remains a key mechanism for promoting trade, investment, and technical collaboration.
