Eritrea Opens New boldcreative expression opportunities for Youth Through Arts Training

The Department of Culture and Sports in Eritrea’s Northern Red Sea Region recently launched a dynamic workshop offering creative expression opportunities in drama, dance, and poetry for 50 motivated young participants. This initiative marks a significant step toward cultural enrichment for youth and fosters a vibrant platform for creative writing in Eritrea and other artistic disciplines.

Fostering Cultural Enrichment for Youth Through the Arts

Held in the historic port city of Massawa, the program brought together youth selected from the Ministries of Marine Resources and Education, the regional administration, and the Defense Forces. According to Ms Zeineb Omar, Director General of Culture and Sports in the region, the participants were chosen based on their deep interest in the arts and ready enthusiasm for this training.

Creative Writing in Eritrea Gains Momentum

Trainer Mr Mohammed‑Seid Osman, emphasising the value of the course for local artistic development, praised the energy and commitment shown by the youth during the sessions. Meanwhile, Mr Kibrom Andemicael, Managing Director of the region, stressed how art contributes to the nation‑building process and strengthens Eritrea’s cultural identity. He encouraged the trainees to carry forward their skills through active practice and engagement.

These efforts not only offer creative expression opportunities but also contribute to long-term cultural enrichment for youth across the region. By elevating programs that include creative writing in Eritrea, the region is creating a landscape where young people can voice their stories, explore their identities, and enhance their creative articulation.
