A total of 492 young people — including 290 females — have successfully completed vocational skills training for jobs in Tiravolo sub-zone, Central Region, Eritrea. The three-month training program was jointly organized by the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS) and the region’s Vocational Training Centers, aiming to boost youth employability and promote career development youth initiatives.

Empowering Youth Through Practical Learning

According to Ms. Leul Asrat, Administrator of the Tiravolo sub-zone, the program highlights the importance of combining education with hands-on experience. She encouraged participants to use their new knowledge and vocational skills certification for employment to benefit their communities and strengthen Eritrea’s workforce.

The comprehensive training covered several professional areas, including:

  • 122 youth trained in administration
  • 91 in first aid
  • 81 in computer technology
  • 78 in video and graphics editing
  • 66 in ideology studies
  • 54 in video and still photography

Strengthening Career Development for Youth

Mr. Samson Kifle, Head of NUEYS in the Central Region, emphasized that this initiative aligns with the union’s ongoing mission to prepare youth for the job market through vocational skills training for jobs. He also encouraged trainees to continue practicing their new skills to build sustainable careers and contribute to national development.

This hands-on program is part of Eritrea’s broader effort to reduce unemployment and enhance career development youth pathways. Such initiatives not only support economic growth but also empower the next generation with the technical expertise needed in today’s evolving industries.
