H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, met with H.E. Dr. Amer Bisat, Lebanon’s Minister of Economy and Trade, to explore new investment cooperation events and strengthen bilateral ties through the Egyptian-Lebanese Joint Higher Committee’s 10th session.
Deepening Economic and Development Ties
Dr. Al-Mashat highlighted President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s strong commitment to advancing cooperative relations with Lebanon and transforming them into a strategic partnership. She emphasized the importance of regular joint committee meetings as a cornerstone for aligning economic policies and promoting broader collaboration.
At the start of the talks, the Minister reaffirmed the historic bond between the two countries and the shared vision of their leadership. She reiterated Egypt’s dedication to deepening trade and economic cooperation projects, while expanding into areas such as urban development, industrial investment, and technological innovation.
Egyptian Expertise Supporting Lebanon’s Growth
Dr. Al-Mashat pointed out that Egyptian companies, known for their extensive experience and success in national projects—such as building smart cities, industrial hubs, and agricultural zones—are ready to contribute to Lebanon’s reconstruction. She stressed that the 10th session of the joint committee meetings would pave the way for even more strategic cooperation and support Lebanon’s journey toward security, stability, and sustainable development.
She also emphasized Egypt’s willingness to collaborate with Lebanese counterparts on economic cooperation projects in planning, policymaking, and development initiatives—encouraging mutual learning and long-term growth.
Strengthening Regional Collaboration
Both ministers agreed to maintain consistent coordination and follow up on all outcomes of the recent session, ensuring that future investment cooperation events reflect positively on bilateral relations. Dr. Amer Bisat, Lebanon’s Minister of Economy and Trade, expressed his country’s interest in expanding cooperation with Egypt and leveraging its successful development models.
He also invited Dr. Al-Mashat to attend the First Beirut Investment Conference this November—an event aimed at attracting investors, enhancing regional partnerships, and fostering innovation-driven growth across sectors.
Trade between Egypt and Lebanon reached $1 billion in 2024, up from $774 million in 2023—a 29.3% increase—highlighting the growing momentum of their economic partnership.
