The MSGBC region is preparing for a major milestone in regional energy development, as industry leaders gather in Dakar for the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 conference. The event comes as first gas from the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim LNG project and first oil from Senegal’s Sangomar field reshape the outlook for msgbc energy collaboration, investment, and economic growth. With exploration advancing across The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Guinea-Conakry, the region’s outlook is increasingly shaped by seismic data, fiscal incentives, and cross-border cooperation.

Government, Investors and Executives Prepare for New Phase of Development

Hosted from December 8-10, 2025 at CICAD in Dakar, the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 conference will unite ministers, international investors, and industry executives under the theme, Energy, Petroleum and Mining in Africa: Synergy for Inclusive Economic Development. The gathering is expected to spotlight upcoming projects in MSGBC region, investment opportunities, and a wave of renewable energy initiatives shaping the power transition.

The first day will feature a technical workshop hosted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers Senegal, focusing on gas-field management, infrastructure-linked local content, ESG integration, and production optimization. A closed-door CEO Assembly will bring together ministers, financial institutions, and C-suite leaders for strategic talks on long-term planning, regional growth, and energy security.

Policy Cooperation and Cross-Border Power Sector Partnerships

A core part of the forum will be a ministerial dialogue on power sector partnerships, bringing energy ministers from Senegal, Mauritania, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Guinea-Conakry together to address policy harmonization, equitable access, sustainable management, and financing of regional resources. Delegates will also examine cross-border gas initiatives, critical minerals, downstream development, and national updates from West Africa.

High-Level Openings and Leadership Engagement

The main conference opens on December 9 with leaders from the African Energy Chamber, bp, Woodside Energy, the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization, and others. The session will conclude with remarks from Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on the nation’s growing influence and inclusive development strategy.

Networking, Investment Opportunities and Industry Growth

The event will close on December 11, featuring a networking golf day and cultural excursion to Gorée Island, designed to strengthen partnerships through informal engagement. This year’s gathering is widely viewed as a catalyst for msgbc energy collaboration, driving new investment, cooperation, and sustainable growth.

Major energy players including bp, Kosmos Energy, Woodside Energy, TGS, Apus Energy, and state-owned companies are expected to share updates on exploration pipelines, drilling programs, infrastructure planning, and new opportunities. Their participation underscores confidence in continued growth and the need for renewable energy initiatives and strategic partnerships that support regional prosperity.

“MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 arrives at a decisive moment for the region. This year’s conference brings together partners, policymakers and investors who will shape the next decade of progress in West Africa,” states Sandra Jeque, Events and Project Director, Energy Capital & Power.
