  • Everton midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has expressed frustration over what he called “mind-boggling” officiating in the Premier League, after receiving a suspension for accumulating five yellow card accumulation in just six appearances.

    Dewsbury-Hall Frustrated with Referee Decisions

The 27-year-old was booked during Everton’s 1-1 draw against West Ham for a challenge on Kyle Walker-Peters, ruling him out of Sunday’s clash with Crystal Palace. Sharing his reaction on X (formerly Twitter), Dewsbury-Hall said:

“Forgive me if I’m wrong, and I might be, but some of these decisions are so hard to take. Mind boggling.”

His Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall suspension highlights the strict officiating this season, with several players already nearing the yellow card limit. Similar cases, such as Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson’s ban two seasons ago, have raised concerns over referee consistency.

    Moyes Criticizes Premier League Officiating

Everton manager David Moyes also questioned the Everton referee decisions, calling them “shabby” and pointing to a general decline in the standard of refereeing across the Premier League.

“I think the decisions we’ve had at the moment have been frustrating, but I think all the managers might be saying that at the moment,” Moyes said. “I thought the decision on Dewsbury-Hall was a really shabby decision.”

Growing Concerns Over Premier League Yellow Cards

Dewsbury-Hall joined Everton from Chelsea in August for around £28 million and has started every league game since. His fourth booking came in a 2-1 loss to Liverpool on 20 September, when he was penalized for taking a quick free-kick — a decision teammate Jack Grealish publicly called “something I’ve never seen in my life.”

This growing list of Premier League yellow cards has reignited debate among managers and players alike, who argue that inconsistent officiating is affecting team performances and match outcomes.
