H.E. Minister Rania Al-Mashat has arrived in Tirana to chair the Egyptian–Albanian Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation (Daily News Egypt), convened for the first time since 1993. The historic session aims to enhance economic relations, expand trade agreements, and foster investment cooperation between Egypt and Albania (Investment Cooperation Events Egypt-Lebanon).

Strengthening Bilateral Trade and Investment

Minister Al-Mashat highlighted that the Committee will explore new avenues for collaboration, emphasizing private-sector partnerships. The session will feature a joint business forum, where representatives from both countries’ business communities will discuss investment opportunities across key sectors of mutual interest (Inter-Governmental Discussions International Trade Deals with Slovakia).

“This Committee is a crucial step toward expanding economic, trade, and investment cooperation and opening doors for private-sector engagement,” said H.E. Minister Al-Mashat.

Extensive Preparatory Meetings

Prior to the Committee session, H.E. Minister Al-Mashat presided over detailed preparatory meetings involving Egyptian and Albanian experts. Participants included representatives from Egypt’s Ministries of Investment and Foreign Trade, Electricity and Renewable Energy, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Agriculture, Civil Aviation, Labor, Supply, the Public Business Sector, GAFI, the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority, the Arab Organization for Industrialization, and leading companies in infrastructure, real estate, and tourism. Albanian ministries and institutions also contributed to the discussions (Egyptian Tech Solutions Provider Thales AIO).

Historic Visits and Deepening Cooperation

The session reflects the long-term commitment of both nations to strengthen bilateral ties. Key milestones include the visit of H.E. Ilir Meta, former President of Albania, to Egypt in February 2019 and the visit of H.E. Edi Rama, Albanian Prime Minister, to Cairo in October 2021. Both visits focused on enhancing political and economic cooperation, trade expansion, and joint investment initiatives (Security Assessments Egypt).

Egypt’s Global Economic Engagement

The Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation actively works to strengthen Egypt’s economic relations through 54 joint committees with other countries, including 30 with European nations. These committees play a critical role in promoting bilateral and multilateral trade, investment, and development partnerships (Association Liberties Regulations Egypt; Digital Transformation Plan Egypt Healthcare Initiatives).
