Tony Blair to Help Oversee Gaza’s Transition Under Trump Gaza Plan 2025

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair will play a central role in his Trump Gaza Plan 2025, an ambitious proposal designed to end the long-running conflict between Israel and Hamas. Blair will join the newly established “Board of Peace,” chaired by Trump himself, which will temporarily oversee Gaza’s governance if Hamas accepts the peace plan.

Trump’s Approach to the Gaza Conflict

Trump’s approach to the Gaza conflict includes a 20-point roadmap focused on demilitarization, redevelopment, and humanitarian relief. The proposal seeks an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, and a new transitional governance structure in Gaza.

According to the plan, all 20 living Israeli hostages and the remains of over two dozen believed dead would be returned within 72 hours. In return, Israel would release 250 prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 Gazans detained since the October 2023 war began. The plan also promises “full aid” delivery to Gaza and calls for the deployment of a multinational stabilization force to support security and train local police.

Blair’s Role in the Trump Gaza Plan 2025

Under Trump’s Gaza plan 2025, Gaza would be governed by a technocratic Palestinian committee responsible for managing daily public services. This committee would work under the supervision of the international “Board of Peace,” chaired by Trump and including international leaders such as Tony Blair.

Blair, who previously served as Middle East envoy for the Quartet (US, EU, Russia, and the UN), has long been involved in peace efforts aimed at achieving a two-state solution. He described the Trump Gaza plan 2025 as “the best chance of ending two years of war, misery, and suffering.”

“President Trump has put forward a bold and intelligent plan,” Blair said. “If agreed, it can end the war, bring relief to Gaza, and ensure Israel’s enduring security. His willingness to chair the Board of Peace shows genuine commitment to a brighter, more stable future.”

Differing Opinions on Trump’s Gaza Plan

While Trump’s supporters see the initiative as a pragmatic step toward peace, there are differing opinions on Trump’s Gaza plan. UK Health Secretary Wes Streeting acknowledged Blair’s diplomatic skill but said his involvement would “raise eyebrows” given his record on the Iraq War.

Despite skepticism, Streeting emphasized that Blair’s role in brokering the 1998 Good Friday Agreement proves his diplomatic effectiveness. “If he can bring those considerable skills here, it can only be a good thing,” he said.

Details of the Peace Framework

The Trump Gaza plan 2025 stipulates that Hamas will have no role in governance — “directly, indirectly, or in any form.” If Hamas rejects the plan, Trump vowed full backing for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “do what you would have to do.”

The plan also opens the door to a potential Palestinian state, but only after the Palestinian Authority implements significant reforms. Trump criticized nations such as the UK, Australia, Canada, and France for “foolishly” recognizing Palestine’s statehood in advance of these reforms.

The Ongoing Crisis in Gaza

Since the conflict began in October 2023, more than 66,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes, according to Gaza’s health ministry. The UN has confirmed famine conditions in Gaza City, while a recent UN inquiry accused Israel of genocide — an allegation Israel denies.

Trump’s proposal marks a sharp departure from his earlier February remarks suggesting the US could “take over” Gaza and build a “Riviera of the Middle East,” a statement widely criticized for implying forced displacement.

As the world watches closely, the Trump Gaza plan 2025 has reignited debate about how to balance peace, justice, and sovereignty in one of the world’s most enduring conflicts.
