Eritrea’s aviation sector is advancing toward greater safety and efficiency as the Eritrean Aviation School successfully concludes a year-long training program for 63 members of Asmara International Airport. The initiative focuses on improving operational standards and ensuring stronger aviation regulatory compliance across all airport departments.

Boosting Skills and Technical Knowledge

According to Mr. Simon Araya, Director of the Eritrean Aviation School, the aviation industry is constantly evolving, and staying updated is vital for maintaining international standards. He emphasized that Asmara International Airport is committed to staff development through continuous training programs, both locally and with the support of international trainers.

The program’s curriculum included modules on airport security systems, radio and equipment maintenance, meteorology, and flight control operations—critical areas to ensure adherence to aviation regulatory compliance and improved performance.

Strengthening Airport Infrastructure and Administration

Parallel to the technical courses, another training program was organized for 80 officials from the Hagaz Sub-Zone. Participants received instruction in administration, financial management, and documentation—key components in supporting airport infrastructure development and efficient airport governance.

Mr. Bereket Berhane, General Director of Asmara International Airport, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to implement their new skills in daily operations. He highlighted that the program directly contributes to passenger safety and aircraft maintenance excellence, aligning with international aviation regulatory compliance standards.

Col. Kibrom Nirayo, Director General of Administration and Finance in the Anseba Region, added that the training would strengthen public service delivery and improve organizational performance, particularly in areas of human resource management, budgeting, and workplace ethics.

Promoting Growth in Aviation and Technical Education

The Eritrean Aviation School continues to expand its role in building skilled professionals for the national aviation industry. By investing in staff education and aircraft maintenance courses, Eritrea aims to elevate its aviation safety record and support future airport infrastructure development projects that meet global benchmarks.
