Uganda’s Parliament teams delivered outstanding performances at the ongoing EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games, dominating opponents in volleyball, basketball, and netball on Sunday, 7 December 2025.
Volleyball Youth Teams Uganda Lead the Way
At the MTN Arena Lugogo, Uganda’s volleyball youth teams Uganda won their opening matches in straight sets. The women’s team, captained by Hon. Helen Nakimuli, defeated Rwanda 25-15, 25-20, and 25-6. Meanwhile, the men, led by Hon. Gaffa Mbwatekamwa, overpowered EALA 25-7, 25-12, and 25-6. Both teams now prepare to face Kenya in upcoming fixtures.
Basketball and Netball Clubs Uganda Excel
Uganda’s women basketball team showcased their supremacy at Lugogo Indoor Arena, defeating Kenya 40-20. Team captain Hon. Suzan Amero led with 16 points and 8 rebounds, supported by Hon. Connie Galiwango, Hon. Hellen Nakimuli, and Hon. Stella Atyang. The combination of strong defense and coordinated teamwork ensured a comprehensive victory.
In netball, Uganda dominated Kenya 72-12, with captain Hon. Sarah Netalisire and Hon. Juliet Kakande delivering standout performances. Their precision shooting and on-court coordination highlighted the strength of basketball netball clubs Uganda. The team will now face Burundi in their next challenge.
“Our victories reflect months of preparation and the incredible support of our fans,” said captain Hon. Sarah Netalisire after the final buzzer. Hon. Galiwango added that the team’s dedication, coupled with the vibrant atmosphere at Lugogo, was key to their performance.

The 15th edition of the EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games continues over the next two weeks at multiple venues. With commanding wins across volleyball, basketball, and netball, Uganda’s Parliament teams have made a strong statement as they defend their regional titles.
