Cassava Technologies, a leading pan-African technology group, has partnered with STANLIB Infrastructure Investments to accelerate data centre growth in South Africa. This landmark deal focuses on expanding AI-ready infrastructure within Africa Data Centres (ADC) campuses in Johannesburg and Cape Town — solidifying South Africa’s position as a continental digital hub.

Strategic Investment to Power Digital Infrastructure

The collaboration between Cassava Technologies and STANLIB aims to address South Africa’s growing demand for digital transformation and cloud services. The investment will drive advanced infrastructure upgrades, positioning ADC as a leader in AI-driven data management and edge computing capabilities.
According to Hardy Pemhiwa, President and Group CEO of Cassava Technologies, the partnership “strengthens our South African operations and provides the scale required to serve major hyperscalers and enterprises with secure, high-capacity connectivity.”

Advancing Africa’s Digital Economy

This Africa Data Centres partnership is a major step toward enhancing South Africa’s digital backbone. Andy Louw, Co-Head of STANLIB Infrastructure Investments, highlighted that the initiative “aligns with our mission to deploy capital that fuels economic growth while giving investors access to a resilient infrastructure asset class.”
By expanding its presence in Johannesburg and Cape Town, ADC is set to enhance regional connectivity, provide reliable hosting for cloud service providers, and support the continent’s ongoing technology advancements.

Transforming the Data Ecosystem

Africa Data Centres currently operates seven state-of-the-art facilities across the continent, serving over 400 enterprise and hyperscale clients. The expansion will not only increase capacity but also support innovations in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
These technology advancements are crucial for enabling industries such as fintech, healthcare, and e-commerce, which rely heavily on high-performance digital infrastructure.

South Africa: A Digital Growth Powerhouse

South Africa continues to emerge as a key destination for global investors seeking to leverage Africa’s digital transformation. The data centre growth in South Africa signals increasing investor confidence, government support for ICT, and growing demand for localized cloud storage solutions.
This initiative also supports green data centre goals, integrating renewable energy to promote sustainability within the sector.
