Acer Africa has officially introduced the Acer AiTV, setting a new standard for innovations in AI-powered TV technology and smart entertainment. The launch marks a global first for Acer, with South Africa proudly leading the worldwide rollout of this 4K Google TV device — a product conceptualized and developed by Acer’s South African innovation team.

Redefining the Smart Home Experience

According to Glenn Du Toit, Country Manager at Acer Africa, the Acer AiTV represents a milestone in the growing smart TV market in South Africa. “This is technology designed for how South Africans live today—connected, adaptive, and affordable,” he said. The AiTV transforms any display into a full-fledged entertainment hub, offering seamless 4K UHD streaming, Dolby Vision audio, and AI-enhanced super-resolution upscaling.

Built on Google TV, the device delivers instant access to popular platforms like Netflix, Showmax, Disney+, DStv Stream, YouTube, and eVOD. With built-in Google Assistant and Chromecast, users can easily control their entertainment through simple voice commands.

Engineered for Local Connectivity Needs

Recognizing South Africa’s unique connectivity challenges, the Acer AiTV has been tailored for homes transitioning to digital entertainment. With millions of households gaining access to affordable fixed-line internet, this device bridges accessibility gaps while ensuring smooth, high-quality streaming.

Its hardware is optimized to meet both urban and rural demands, supporting AI acceleration and AI integration in entertainment devices to enhance viewing, gaming, and productivity experiences.

Designed in South Africa, Made for the World

The AiTV is more than just another smart device—it’s a testament to local innovation driving global technology. Du Toit emphasized, “We’re moving beyond smart homes into intelligent homes. Devices like the AiTV don’t just connect—they learn, anticipate, and adapt.”

With features like Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C, and HDMI 2.1b, the AiTV brings cutting-edge connectivity to every living room. It fits seamlessly into home, office, or student environments, reflecting South Africa’s growing role in global tech design.

Launch Offer and Availability

To celebrate the product’s debut, Acer is offering customers who purchase the AiTV between 1 October and 2 December 2025 a complimentary R250 Steam gaming voucher. The device is available from major retailers, including Takealot, Computer Mania, Incredible Connection, and Amazon.

The AiTV symbolizes a major leap forward in innovations in AI-powered TV technology and highlights how African engineering is contributing to the global entertainment revolution.
